Its been such a great start to Autumn that i decided to visit some local places hoping for good photos, but mainly just to enjoy that sun and warmth while its here.

Last weekend i went to Stokesay Castle, a medieval fortified manor in south Shropshire (the county i live in), which i have been longing to visit forever. Unfortunately for me the best bit- the gatehouse- was covered in scaffolding due to major repairs, but the weather was so warm and sunny, that i didn't mind. I really enjoyed Stokesay, despite the thirty or so visitors (its not big, so thirty makes it busy) you could really get a sense of the history. If you are in south Shropshire at any time its a must see.

While i was down there i went to Clun Castle, although its just a ruin. This had scaffolding on it too, but nevermind, Clun had a nice church, and afterall i am a church fanatic. I also stopped off at a few other places there and back too.

This weekend i decided to do the same. I have only just got back, but since i didn't go as far today its all good. Went to Wroxeter Roman City near Shrewsbury. Its okay i suppose. The countryside around it though is beautiful, so i meandered through it for a while. I ended up at Acton Burnell Castle, a nice little ruin behind a very, very posh school.

I really hope October carries on like this, Autumn light is so soft.
